Allied Moving Company and its affiliates rank favorably among the top moving companies in the nation. This successful reputation is in no small part due to Allied’s amazing affiliates scattered across America, all of which offer great customer service and a wide selection of customizable moving services.

But why is Allied Van Lines Co. is considered one of the best national movers to choose from? In today’s post, Nelson Markesbery Moving & Storage in Cincinnati, Ohio answers.

1. The Long, Tenured History of Allied Van Lines Co.

Allied Van Lines, a top-rated fleet van moving service with locations spanning from coast to coast, was founded in 1928 as a cooperative non-profit organization. In 1968, it went public, trading shares on the stock market.

By 1999, they merged with a private equity firm, Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R), to create SIRVA, Inc., — publicly traded under the ticker symbol “SIR.”

Just one year before buying AVL, SIRVA had purchased North American Van Lines (NAVL) in 1998, a moving company that was originally founded in 1933. The acquisition of both AVL and NAVL created a new corporate entity: “Allied Worldwide,” a name that quickly changed to SIRVA.

Thanks to this merger, Allied Van Lines became a part of the largest moving service network in the world.

Growth didn’t stop there.

SIRVA acquired more companies in the 2000s, such as Global Van Lines, which was purchased in 2002. But in 2008, Allied’s parent company, SIVRA, was purchased by Aurora resurgence and Equity Group Investments (EGI), taking the moving and transportation company private.

Today, SIRVA is owned by a private equity law firm based in Chicago, Madison Dearborn Partners (MDP). It was purchased in May of 2018. Throughout Allied’s long, growth-focused history, one thing has remained consistent: a commitment to quality moving services.

2. Allied’s Nation-Wide Network of Moving Affiliates

Allied operates within the largest network of moving companies in the world. The rapid spread of Allied’s professional moving network over the last 88 years is a testament to their 96% satisfaction rate.

Allied works alongside other subsidiary companies with their own extensive network of affiliate moving service companies, similar to Nelson Markesbery.

The breadth of partnerships and networks that customers can access extends even further than Allied’s most immediate affiliates.

Individual Allied agents have other partner companies as well. Nelson Markesbery is affiliated with Air Animal, a moving company based in Florida that specializes in moving household pets.

3. Fully Customizable Moving Service Options
